This is one of the most common symptoms that people with TMJ disorders experience. This pain may occur briefly though it may also be a general and lasting discomfort of the jaw area as well.
Clicking and Popping of the Jaw
Often accompanying jaw pain, clicking and popping in the jaw is also a common symptom of TMJ disorders. People usually experience the popping and clicking of the jaw while chewing or yawning.
Ear Pain, Neck Pain, Tooth Pain, and Headaches
Since the temporomandibular joint is the junction between the jawbone and the skull, problems with the jaw may lead to pain or discomfort in other areas of the face, head, and neck.
Lockjaw and Stiffness in the Jaw
Many people with TMJ disorders will experience lockjaw or stiffness in the jaw joint. This means that your mouth will only be able to open a certain amount, which may make it very difficult to speak, yawn, or eat.
